About Us

The Aim of Our Project

In 2014, a year before the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we started our survey and research into the multilingual publication of atomic bomb literature. Our goal is to make a comprehensive survey into the process of worldwide acknowledgment of Hiroshima and Nagasaki for 70 years.

Our annotated bibliography is classified into seven genres:

  1. General Literature
  2. Juvenile Literature
  3. Memoirs
  4. Graphic and Photographic Records
  5. History and Social Sciences
  6. Medical Sciences
  7. Physical Sciences and Engineering

Multilingual publication of atomic bomb literature enables knowledge of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to reach the grassroots level in every corner of the world, so that all individuals worldwide may share in the universal goal of preventing attacks like those on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We live in a chaotic global situation in which the goal of total abolition of nuclear weapons is not always shared by all nations. This is, however, the most urgent obstacle in the path of civil society as we aim to improve human security, rather than merely national security. Conveying Hiroshima and Nagasaki’s history in readers’ native tongues will have immeasurable value in attaining the goal of global peace and security.

We appreciate your help if you are interested:

If you find more books that are in your own language but are not included in our database, please tell us what they are so they can be added to the bibliography.
