This is 11-year-old Jessica's diary account of the first year of her world voyage in the Phoenix of Hiroshima. The crew consisted of four members of her family. In 1958, during the Cold War era, they sailed their yacht into the U.S. nuclear testing area in the Pacific to protest against atmospheric nuclear testing. In 1961, they also sailed to Nakhodka, U.S.S.R, to protest Soviet nuclear testing.
