The Hiroshima International Symposium has been held seven times since 1995 and is hosted by the International Radiation Information Center at Hiroshima University. The center is acting in collaboration with scientists in Kazakhstan which is allowing the Kazaks to make use of the center's fifty years of research on the atomic bomb survivors. 1996年に広島大学附属国際放射線情報センターが開いた「第2回広島国際シンポジウム～放射線による長期低線量被曝の人体影響:セミパラチンスク核実験被災地区をモデルとして」の英文報告書。被爆者治療で50年間に蓄積したデータをもとに、カザフスタンの医師との共同研究を目的として、これまでに7回同シンポジウムを開催している。
