Kuramoto, Renato, Ribeiro Yoichi, Appoloni Carlos Roberto. Uma breve história da política nuclear brasileira . [in:] Caderno brasileiro de ensino de fisica. , , v.19, n.3, 2002. Pp. 379-392
The first research in the field of nuclear power in Brazil had begun in the 1930’s. However, only after the atomic explosion in 1945 in Hiroshima did the Brazilian government start to show interest in this issue. Since then, facing controversies about the use of nuclear power for military proposes, the systematic search for nuclear technology’s domain directed to Brazil’s hegemony in Latin America, has marked the 54 following years of our nuclear politics’ history. The main facts that occurred from Hiroshima to Angra II, and the current perspectives of nuclear energy in Brazil are described in this article.
