Blackett, P. M. S. (Patrick Maynard Stuart), Baron Blackett. Fear, war, and the bomb: military and political consequences of atomic energy . New York, Whittlesey House, 1948. Pp. 244
The original title of this book is P. M. S. Blackett. Military and Political Consequences of Atomic Energy (Third Impression [Revised] February 1949. Turnstile Press Ltd., London.) The author was a British experimental physicist and winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1948. He wrote this book three years after the end of World War II. Under the situation in which some countries sought to develop atomic bombs, he proposed to look at the serious damage caused by conventional weapons rather than making atomic bombs. Furthermore, he advocates the international supervision of nuclear weapons to prevent nuclear proliferation.
