Dower, John W.. The Violent American Century: war and terror since World War II . , , . Pp. 167
John W. Dower, an American historian, positively clarifies the international situation after World War II. In this book he argues against Henry Luce's opinion, published in his paper in 1941, that the twentieth century would be an American century. Dower claims that the postwar century was a "violent American century" for the United States by chronologically reviewing international conflicts such as the Cold War, the Vietnam War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and fear of terrorism after the “9/11” terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
